How to Achieve Effective Weight Loss without Dieting

With the many, many weight loss methods to choose from today, it can be more than a little daunting to try and choose one that will really work at achieving effective weight loss. While you may be looking for the best way to diet for weight loss, what you might benefit more from is learning how to stop dieting!

If you have been overweight for a long period of time, you probably already know that food can be addictive. This is especially true for women who have more of a tendency to indulge in emotional eating and who frequently have cravings for fattening foods because of hormones. Anyone who has tried numerous weight loss methods that consistently fail to produce effective weight loss might not realize that dieting is addictive as well! For many people, learning how to stop dieting is the first step in getting real results and finally experiencing the effective weight loss that they desire.

How to Stop Dieting with the Right Weight Loss Methods

Most of us who have tried numerous weight loss methods know how easy it is to be successful during the first week or two of any diet. You are enthused, determined that this time it is going to work, and as the scale starts to creep downward, you are sure that you have finally found a method for effective weight loss. Unfortunately, this success is almost always short lived. Sticking with the diet may become more difficult but even if you eat the same foods faithfully, you stop losing weight.

Diets are not the best weight loss methods because they don’t produce consistent results. Often, the immediate weight loss that you experience is not the effective weight loss that you take it for. It is a loss of excess body fluid. In those instances when you really have lost weight, your body adjusts to the new diet and weight loss slows down. The bottom line is that until you learn how to stop dieting compulsively and start eating a nutritious diet that doesn’t contain “empty” calories and unhealthy ingredients, effective weight loss is not in your future.

These are some tips on how to stop dieting and start using proven, healthy weight loss methods to achieve effective weight loss:

  • Stop taking the approach that you are going to diet to lose weight. Instead, tell yourself that you are going to adopt a new attitude towards eating so that you get the nutrition you need without the added calories that you are getting from fast food and fatty or sweet snacks. Changing your diet should be a positive change, not an experiment to see which of the newest weight loss methods will be the magic formula for effective weight loss.
  • Avoid fad diets. Extreme diets that aren’t nutritionally balanced and don’t give you a variety of foods are doomed to fail.
  • Eat a diet that is a good choice for the entire family. If you are eating the right foods to help you lose weight, they will be foods that you can feel good about feeding your entire family. Never eat something that you wouldn’t feed your children. If your spouse or children need to drop weight, add exercise that you can do as a family in combination with a new way of eating to achieve effective weight loss for all!
